Monet Jewelry

Monet is one of the well-known modern fashion jewelry brands. It is renowned for well-designed jewelry with refined elegance. The jewelry is versatile and has appeal that has lasted for over 70 years.

History of Monet dates back to 1929 when it was founded in Providence, RI by brothers, Jay and Michael Chernow. Initially, its name was Monocraft and it made gold plated monograms. It started producing jewelry under Monet name from 1937. Most of the jewelry made in 1940’s used silver as the base metal. Monet was pioneer in technological advancements in jewelry and developed the friction ear clip which fitted in ear firmly without causing any pain or pressure. It also came out with barrel clutch that was used for piercing earrings and this replaced butterfly clutch.

General Mills acquired Monet in 1968 and a new jewelry line CIANI was introduced in 1977. Later, in 1989, Crystal Brands Jewelry purchased Monet.

For more than 70 years, Monet has been offering classic jewelry pieces in stone, metal, and pearl. It has also kept up with the trend and has designed fashion jewelry pieces. For numerous special occasions, Monet has been designing dazzling arrays of exquisite jewelry styles in jet, crystal, mother-of-pearl and jewel-tone stones designs.
